Abstract
The number of woman workers is increasing due to financial reasons, self-actualization, and relationships, causing women workers especially working mothers as a vulnerable and risk groups to occupational health hazards. One of the hazard is a role imbalance between work and family because of its multiple roles. It can make working moms become stressed so that will affect the condition of mother’s well-being in family. An effort to make independent working mothers to surface the multiple roles that increasing her family well-being is mindfulness STOP (Stop, Take a breath, Observed, Proceed). The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of mindfulness on family well-being in mothers who work as a nurses. This research used a quasi experiment pre-post test with control group design with 52 respondents screened based on the inclusion criteria, which consisted of 26 respondents in intervention group and 26 respondents in control group. Mindfulness STOP exercise was given in 4 sessions from 4 meetings for 2 weeks. The characteristics of respondents were analyzed using Chi-square test and Homogeneity of variance, while the family well-being of mothers working as nurses were analyzed using Wilcoxon and Mann-whitney tests. The result of this study showed that there were significant differences in the well-being values in the intervention group and the control group after mindfulness training with a p-value of 0.000. Based on these result, it can be concluded that mindfulness can improve family well-being in mothers who work as nurses. Mindfulness can be recommended as an intervention to improve the well-being of workers, especially in doing their roles in the family and become a based for further research.
