Abstract

Satria Aji, Ilham. 2018. “‘The Struggle of an Impotence Man’: A Literature-Psychology Study on Eka Kurniawan’s Novel Seperti Dendam Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas”. Last task of Department of Indonesian Language and Literature, Faculty of Cultural Science, Diponegoro University. Mentored by Drs. Moh. Muzakka, M.Hum. and Fajrul Falah S.Hum, M.Hum. Seperti Dendam Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas is a novel about Ajo Kawir as the main character who suffered a sexual disturbance. Ajo Kawir’s condition gives an impact to his struggling life. That makes a disruption on his psychological development such as his spiritual condition and internal conflict. The author uses structural fiction theory to discover the internal elements of the novel, such as character and characterization, plot and plotting, and also settings. This research also uses literature-psychology theory to examine about personality structure, factors that cause internal conflict, and the struggle Ajo Kawir has to bear. From the result of the analysis on the novel Seperti Dendam Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas it is known that Ajo Kawir bears an internal conflict and struggle. based on psychological structure, whis is Id, Ego, Superego. While factors that cause internal conflict and struggle that Ajo Kawir has to bear are two, which are internal and external. The internal factors are internal conflict, fear, anxiety. The external factors are his conflict with Si Tokek, his conflict with Iteung, his conflict with Si Macan, his conflict with Si Kumbang. His struggles are his effort against his impotence, disconfidence, Iteung’s pregnancy, being prisoner, Iteung kills two policemen.
