GAMBARAN STIGMA PADA ORANG DENGAN SKIZOFRENIA (ODS) DI RSJ PROVINSI JAWA TENGAH

Abstract

ABSTRACT The impact of reality disruption and low communication is resulted to people with schizophrenia getting a negative stigma from their environment. The amount of stigma from the environment can cause people with schizophrenia to internalize the stigma into self-stigma. The purpose of this study is to know the discription of the stigma felt by people with schizophrenia in each domain at Dr. RSJD. Amino Gondohutomo Central Java. This research is a quantitative research with descriptive survey method. The sampling technique is using non probability sampling with samples are 102. The instrument is using the ISMI instrument (Internalized Stigma of Mentall Illnes Inventory). The results show that 54.9% respondents felt low stigma and 45.1% respondents felt high stigma. Based on the ISMI domain, the biggest stigma that respondents perceived is the social withdrawal domain with an average of 2.62, while the smallest is stereotyped domain with average of 2.45. So it can be concluded that the stigma felt by people with schizophrenia in the low category and stigmated in the social withdrawal domain. Therefore, it is advisable for hospitals and nurses to provide adequate information support on how to fight stigma and invite to stop giving stigma for preventing recurrence and improving the quality of life in people with schizophrenia.
