ABSTRACT Aviani, Arinda. 2018. “The Archetype of Main Characters in Shiki manga by Fuyumi Ono and Fujisaki Ryu (Literary Psychology Study)”, Culture and Japanese Language, Diponegoro University, Semarang. First Advisor Fajria Noviana, S.S, M.Hum, Second Advisor Dewi Saraswati. S., S.S, M.Si. The purpose of this research is to explain some of the intrinsic and archetypal elements that can be found in the main characters in the 'Shiki' manga created by Fuyumi Ono and Fujisaki Ryu. The method used in this research is qualitative method along with literature study. The theory used in this thesis is Carl Gustav Jung's archetypal theory and structural theory. The structural approach is used to analyze the intrinsic element contained in the Manga. The elements used in this research are theme, figures and characterizations, plot, background place, time background, social background, and atmosphere background. Carl Gustav Jung's archetypal theory is used to analyze the archetypes displayed on the four main characters in the manga. In this study, can be discovered if the archetypes owned by the four main characters play an important role in plot development displayed on the manga 'Shiki'. Furthermore, archetypes can help the growth development of the four main characters. With the development of archetypes on the main character, they can make decisions in difficult situations.
