Abstract
ABSTRACT Abdurrahman Fikri Ramadan. 2018. "Educational Values In Japanese Folklore Momotaro (Sociology Literature Approach)". Thesis of Japanese Language and Culture Studies Program. Faculty of Humanities. Diponegoro University. The first Advisor, Drs. Moh. Muzakka, M. Hum, and second advisor, Yuliani Rahmah, S. Pd, M. Hum. The folklore is a heritage, a culture, a literary work of the prior generations that are derived and preserved for the next generation. In addition, folklore also becomes the signature and history of a nation. Folklore is not only to entertain people but also as a medium for delivering noble values which of course can be learned. The Japanese are one of the nations that still uphold the noble values, and the Momotaro folklore is a popular example of folklore in Japan. The author chose this theme because the Japanese folklore Momotaro is a famous Japanese tale that also has educational values that serve as examples of learning for Japanese society. In addition, this folklore is also the signature and history of a nation, especially the Japanese nation. Many folklore in Japan have educational values, however, in Momotaro , the depictions of the unique characters of Momotaro are appropriate for being learned by children and adults. This is what makes the author interested to find out what educational values entailed in the Japanese folklore Momotaro. The purpose of this study is to analyze the intrinsic elements of Momotaro's folklore and the educational values contained in the Momotaro. The theory used is the theory of structuralism and the theory of sociology of literature. The result of this research is that the foklore has two themes, major theme and minor theme. The main character of this story is Momotaro which is also the title of this folklore. There are three values of education in this folklore, namely (1) the Value of Moral Education, (2) the Value of Social Education, and (3) the Value of Cultural Education.
