Abstract

Job satisfaction considerably affects employee performance and employee outcome . An employee who have high level of job satisfaction tend to be more committed, give significant contribution and high dedication to the company. Therefore, job satisfaction can improve employee performance as well as service quality and employee retention. The competition in automotive sector is being increasingly competitive, hence it is important for a company to identify the factors that affecting job satisfaction to prevent employee turnover. This study aims to discover interviewees perspective regarding the factors that affecting employee job satisfaction of automotive companies in Semarang and to find out the condition of employee job satisfaction at automotive companies in Semarang. The factors that affecting employee satisfaction were identified through a literature review of various journals. The method used for this study is qualitative case study with 10 interviewees from two automotive companies which are PT Red Velvet and PT Black Pink by purposive sampling. Data obtained by interview and observation. The results of this study show the factors that affecting employee job satisfaction are job content, management, work envinronment, compensation, promotion, training and corporate image. In general, employee in both automotive companies in Semarang are satisfied with their job. Moreover, compensation, working envinronment and work itself become the main factors that affecting employee job satisfaction at automotive company in Semarang
