Abstract

The description of the quality of life of Children of school age living in the orphanage in Tembalang xv + 99 pages + 9 table + 2 pictures + 8 annexes The prevalence of orphans in Indonesia is quite high. The number of orphans in Indonesia in 2016 was around 896,000 children. The children of the orphanage at the school age desperately need the role of parents. It will affect the quality of life of school age children. The purpose of this research is to know the description of the quality of life of children of school age living in the orphanage in Tembalang. This research uses a quantitative design with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique uses total sampling with samples are 136 respondents. Data were collected using PedsQL Generic Core Scale questionnaire. Research results are analyzed using univariate analysis in the form of a frequency distribution table. The results show that 60.29% of respondents had a very good quality of life and 39.71% of the respondents had a good quality of life. The quality of life of the respondents based on domains and most of them had a good quality of life. 91.18% of respondents had a very good quality of life in the physical domain, 57.35% of the respondents had a good quality of life at emotional domain 74.26% of respondents had a very good quality of life in social domain, and 52.94% of the respondents had a good quality of life at the domain school environment. Based on the results of the study at the orphanage, caregivers are expected to enhance the emotional and school environment support. Keywords: quality of life, school age children, orphanages.
