Gambaran Kemandirian Activity Daily Living (ADL) pada Anak Tunagrahita di SLB Kabupaten Kendal

Abstract

In 2010, about 7-10% of total numbers children in Indonesia are experience mental retardation. The development on children’s mental retardation of their independent nature can be hampered during Activity Daily Living (ADL) because of their intelligence are below of the average. These conditions cause limitet Activity Daily Living (ADL) unlike a normal child in general. This research aims to know the description of Independence Activity Daily Living (ADL) on child mental retardation in Kendal Regency SLB. The research method used is quantitative using an approach of cross-sectional. There are 121 respondents obtained through total sampling. Measuring instruments which used are questionnaire about the Independence of Activity Daily Living (ADL) and data analysis using univariate analysis. The results showed that the independence Activity Daily Living (ADL) in children are the majority of mental retardation that is of 64.5%, height of 28.9%, and low of 6.6%. Parents of children with mental retardation are expected to train child to be more self reliance since early stage.
