Abstract
Rizki, Arista Nur. 2018. “Horizon Reception of Banyuurip Villagers to Sèrat Babad Banyuurip's Text (with Literary Reception's Theory of Hans Robert Jauss)”. Thesis. Undergraduate Program of Indonesian Literature Study. Semarang : Faculty of Humanities Diponegoro University. Advisor : Dra. Rukiyah, M. Hum. and Dra. Mirya Anggrahini, M. Hum. The script of Sèrat Babad Banyuurip contains the story of a prince's journey from the Majapahit Kingdom named Prince Jayakusuma with his sister Nyi Putri Galuh Wati. Their journey arrived to a county, now called Banyuurip. The journey's story of Prince Jayakusuma often also called the Babad Banyuurip's story and became a popular folktale among Banyuurip villagers. This research was analyzed using the theory of philology and literary reception's theory of Hans Robert Jauss. The theory of philology includes inventory of manuscript, manuscript description, transcription of manuscript, manuscript comparison, edit the text and translation the text. While the theory literary reception's of Hans Robert Jauss used to know the receipt horizon of Banyuurip villagers to the text of Sèrat Babad Banyuurip. The author used literature review and direct observation in the field, then interviewed several sources of informants to collect the data. Based on these steps resulted the demographic data of Banyuurip villagers condition also the horizon reception of Banyuurip villagers to Sèrat Babad Banyuurip’s text. This horizon of reception based on three factors: the societal norms from story of the text, the previously of experience and knowledge about story of the text, and the contradiction between fiction and reality. Especially, the result about the diversity of receptions Banyuurip villagers affected by several different factors such as age, education level and the social class of society. The result of this research show the response of Banyuurip villagers who believe that story of Babad Banyuurip is real although the story has two versions and bring up the myths, traditions, and some beliefs that are reflected by the norms of Banyuurip villagers until now.
