PENGARUH LINGKUNGAN SOSIAL TERHADAP KESADARAN GENDER: KAJIAN GENDER NOVEL LAST FOREVER KARYA WINDRY RAMADHINA

Abstract

Material object in this study is a novel written by Windry Ramadhina, Last Forever. It tells about the process of gender role awareness both as mother and wife in the main character. This study uses descriptive qualitative method based on gender theory. The purpose of this study is to reveal the social and cultural influences on gender awareness. Sequential and fictional theory are also used to analyze gender in this study. Last Forever has 27 chapter with 114 sequent, in order to understand the intrinsic elements including characters and characterizations, plot and plotting, setting, place of time and social. There are three steps of accepting gender roles process in the main character. The first step is the existence of opposition to different social circumstances, Ruruh’s life background after marriage, and the choice of priority either career or family. The second step is the emergence of conflicts resulted from social conflict system. The third step is the gender awereness processes that influenced by internal and external factors. Internal factors involves the main character influenced by many external factors. External factor involves other characters who indirectly help the main character to change the mindset and point of view about marriage concept.
