Abstract
Caring is the interaction between nurses and clients. Caring activities might affect the quality of health service and client satisfaction in hospitals. The aim of the study was to obtain the overvies of caring activities applied by new nurses graduated from Universitas Diponegoro. The study was a descriptive qualitative research using questionnaire. The study was conducted to 56 respondents who are new nurses graduated from Universitas Diponegoro. The result shows that most of the respondents aged 23-26 years old who are fresh graduates and more than half of respondents have been working for less than 12 months (1 year). As many as 52 respondents (93%) shows very good caring activities shown through behavior that always respects patients as human beings by respecting the rights and obligations of patients as human beings, and only 4 respondents (7%) performed poor caring activities. The conclusion of the research is the caring activities performed by new nurses graduated from Universitas Diponegoro are categorized as very good. For nurses, caring activities create the feeling of care and affection so that nurses will be motivated to perform safe nursing activities for clients. Key words: caring, new nurses
