ANALISIS FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHI KEPUTUSAN PETANI PEDESAAN BEKERJA PADA SEKTOR INDUSTRI SELAIN SEKTOR PERTANIAN (Studi Empirik di Kabupaten Semarang, Jawa Tengah)

Abstract

Entrepreneurship development in industrial sectors beside agriculture sector in the rural as an entrepreneurial support of agriculture sector has an important role in increasing the value added of product, employment creation and seeking orientation of production into market orientation. Rural industries originally cultivated as additional jobs and only to add revenue, but in its development become main business of the family. This caused by widespread land tenure by farmers that increasingly limited. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence rural farmers' decisions to work in the industrial sector beside in the agricultural sector in the Regency of Semarang. “An eclectic theory of entrepreneurship” (Verheul, 2001) and research model from Subrata Duta (2004) based by analyzing the variables of personal factors, agricultur activity background factors, economic factors, socio-cultural environment factors, also innovation and risk factors. Type of this research is explanatory research. The research samples as much 342 respondents. The Analysis of data processed by logistic regression formula for the dependent variable is a binary variable with a score of 0 for farmer which only work in the agricultural sector and a score of 1 for farmers who work in industrial sectors beside agriculture sector. Results of research find variable group of personal factors do not influence farmers' decisions to work in the industrial sector beside agriculture sector. Variable group of agriculture activity background factors that influence the decision of farmers to work in industrial sectors beside agriculture sector in the Regency of Semarang are the widespread of land mastery and land tenure. Variable group of economic factors that influence farmers' decisions to work in industrial sectors beside agriculture sector in the Regency of Semarang is the low income from agriculture. Variable group of socio-cultural environment factors that influence farmers' decisions to work in the industrial sector beside agriculture sector in the Regency of Semarang are the experience factor of farmers outside the agricultural sector and farmers parents’ job. Innovation variables have a negative impact on farmer decision to work in the industrial sector beside the agricultural sector in the Regency of Semarang. This means that innovation mostly done by farmers in the agricultural sector than in the industrial sector. Risk variable is not a factor that influences farmers' to work in the industrial sector beside the agricultural sector in the Regency of Semarang.
