Abstract
The mortality rate in critically ill patients increase for various cases. The high rate of mortality and end-of-life rate in the ICU makes nurses must understand about the treatment of end-of-life. The purpose of this study was to determine the perception of nurses about the care of the end-of-life in the ICU. This research was a quantitative research with survey method. The research instrument used a questionnaire of National Survey of Critical Care Nurses' Perceptions of End-of-Life Care. The sampling technique using consecutive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis. Respondents of this study were 116 critically nurses. The results showed barrier in end-of-life care had moderate intensity (x ̅= 53,73) and frequency occurrence was quite common (x ̅= 53,02). Support in the end-of-life care also had moderate intensity (x ̅= 65,51) and frequency occurrence was quite common (x ̅= 64,59). The conclusion of this study was barrier and support of end-of-life care had moderate intensity and come from the family. Recommendations from the study is the nurse have to improve their knowledge and skills in the treatment of end-of-life by following some training of communication in end-of-life care.
