Abstract
ABSTRACT Raditya, Elang. 2018. “The Contrastive Analysis of Adjectives Nominalization in Japanese and Indonesian Languages”. Essay. Japanese Language and Culture Studies Program. Faculty of Humanities. Diponegoro University. Supervisor Reny Wiyatasari, S.S, M.Hum. The equivalents and differences in each of these languages are the starting point for people’s curiosity to master the languages used for work or any other reason. This study aims to determine the process, grammatical meanings, similarites and differences of adjectives nominalization in Japanese and Indonesian languages. This study used descriptive method with contrastive analysis. First, the author collected the data by library research, analyzed the data with expanding technique (teknik perluas), compared and concluded the results of data analysis. The data of nominalization used were 60 data. The data in Japanese language used were 30 data, taken from Asahi, Yahoo.jp, Aol, Yomiuri, Yanoshiijapan, Books.google.com, and Sony.jp. While the data in Indonesian language used were 30 data taken from Kompas, Tribun and Suara Merdeka. As the sample, 36 data were provided including sentences that use nominalized words in Japanese and Indonesian languages. In this study, the author discovered four types of equivalents in the comparation of nominalization in Japanese and Indonesian languages. They are (1) the equivalents of Japanese suffix –sa with Indonesian confix ke-an that indicates levels, (2) the equivalents of Japanese suffix –sa with Indonesian confix ke-an that indicates an objective state, (3) the equivalents of Japanese suffix –mi with Indonesian confix ke-an that indicates a subjective state, (4) the equivalents of Japanese suffix –mi with Indonesian confix ke-an that indicates a part, location or position. In addition the author discovered the differences in grammatical meaning in the comparation of nominalization in Japanese suffix –sa and -mi to Indonesian prefix ke-, prefix pe, confix pe-an, and suffix –an.
