Abstract
ABSTRACT Fairuz, Ulfah. 2018. "Imagery and The Use of Figurative Language on the song lyrics of Duty Album by Ayumi Hamasaki stylistic studies". A Thesis of Japanese Studies Department, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. Thesis supervisor Nur Hastuti, S.S., M.Hum. This thesis discusses about imagery, and the use of figurative language that exist in Duty album by Ayumi Hamasaki as the singer. The aims of this research are to explain the imagery and the use of figurative language in the lyrics of the songs. The sources of this research are eleven songs of Ayumi Hamasaki from Duty album. The method use in this research is literature study. The theory that used are Figurative language by Seto Kenichi and imagery. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that song lyrics in Duty Album has 34 imagery and 18 figurative language. Keywords: stylistics, Seto Kenichi, imagery, figurative language
