Salinity is the main factors limiting the soybean yield in the N orth C oast of Java. Wide diversity of genetic resources provides opportunity to improve salinity tolerance in soybean . The aim of this study was to analysis of phenotypic diversity in s oybean irradiate d by gamma - rays under salinity - stress. Soybean seeds cv. Dering - 1 were irradiated at 5, 10, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320, 640, 1280 and 2 560 Gy, sown in greenhouse and watered at three - day intervals for three weeks. There were only 32 survival genotypes . T hree - wee ks old soybean seedling in M 1 generation and check cultivar of D ering - 1 were grown on latosol soil s . Salinity - stress t reatment was performed by salt solution s daily (4 dS m - 1 ). Phenotypic character s were observed for flo werin g time, plant - height, root - leng th, number of pods per plant , seeds per pod, 100 - seeds weight, seed - yield per plant. D ata w ould be coded binarily by visual scores . S imilarity coefficients were calculated based on DICE, and dendrogram was constructed by UPGMA - SAHN with NTSYSpc 2.02 softwa re. The results show ed that the high diversity of soybean irradiated by gamma - rays under salinity - stress based on phenotypic character. Improved tolerance character under salini ty - stress was shown in SMG - 10 - 1, SMG - 40 - 1, SMG - 5 - 10 genotypes, and the most tol erant genotype under salinity - stress was SMG - 5 - 1.
