Abstract
ABSTRACT Pregnancy is a condition that causes physical and psychological changes in women. The physical and psychological changes in pregnant women are usually caused by an imbalance of estrogen and progesterone that results in changes in the sexual function such as decreased sexual desire, orgasm, reduced vaginal lubrication, pain during intercourse and dissatisfaction. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between changes in sexual function and sexual activity in multipara pregnant women. This study described nonexperimental quantitative research using a cross-sectional method. A total sampling technique was used to select the samples of 81 respondents. The research instruments used in this study were the modified FSFI questionnaire to measure changes in sexual function in pregnant women and the SAQ questionnaireto measure the sexual intercourse activity of the pregnant women. The results showed that pregnant women who experienced sexual dysfunction were 53 (65.4%). Of these data, a Chi-Square test was performed, and the results indicated that 38 respondents (46.9%) had sexual dysfunction and did not have any sexual intercourse activities. Furthermore, the respondents who had normal sexual function were 4 (4.9%), andthey had sexual intercourse activities. The results of this study indicated there was a relationship between changes in sexual function and sexual activity in multipara pregnant women (p-value = 0.000). Based on the results of the study, it is expected that the healthcare institutions provide education or counseling about the importance of understanding changes in sexual function and sexual activity in pregnant women Keywords: Sexual activity, pregnant women, changes in sexual function
