Pengaruh Supportive Group Therapy terhadap Stres Lansia Dengan Hipertensi di Puskesma Pudakpayung

Abstract

ABSTRACT Lisnawati Effects of Supportive Group Therapy on Stress in Elderly with Hypertension in Pudakpayung Public Health Center xviii + 118 pages + 9 tables + 8 figures + 11 appendixes Stress in the elderly with hypertension will bring negative impacts on health. Stress increases uncontrolled blood pressure and the risk of heart failure, stroke, kidney failure, rupture of the blood vessels, and possibly death. Supportive group therapy is one of the interventions that can be used to reduce stress in the elderly with hypertension. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of supportive group therapy on stress in the elderly with hypertension. This study employed a pre-post quasi-experimental design with the control group. A cluster sampling technique was used to select the samples, consisting of 61 elderly with hypertension who experienced stress based on the Depression, anxiety, stress scale (DASS). The samples were divided into the intervention group and the control group. The results of the statistical tests showed a p-value of 0.00 in the intervention group, p <α 0.05, and a p-value of 0.340 in the control group, p >α 0.05. There were differences in the level of stress in patients in the intervention group and control group with p-value = 0.00. Based on these results, it could be concluded that supportive group therapy gave significant effects on the decrease of stress in the elderly with hypertension in the intervention group, and there were significant differences in the level of stress between the intervention group and control group.
