Abstract

ABSTRACT Sigit Harun Fall Risk Assessment of Morse Scale and STRATIFY xvi + 79 pages + 13 tables + 2 schemes + 10 appendixes Fall risk assessment is one of the actions taken to prevent the incidence of falling patients by using special tools. The most common tools of fall risk assessment used in hospitalized patients are Morse scale and STRATIFY. This study aimed to identify the score of fall risk assessment of patients using Morse scale and STRATIFY and identify the sensitivity and specificity of Morse scale and STRATIFY. This study was an analytical, observational study with a cross-sectional approach. A consecutive sampling technique was used to select the samples of 100 respondents. A 2x2 table was used to analyze the sensitivity and specificity of the scales. The results showed that the score for fall risk assessment using Morse scale indicated that 51% of patients were at high risk, 35% were at moderate risk, and 14% were at low risk. Meanwhile, by using the STRATIFY, the score of fall risk assessment indicated that 20% of patients were at high risk, 44% were at moderate risk, and 36% were at low risk. The test result using a cut off value of 45 indicated that the sensitivity and specificity of Morse scale was 80% and 56,3%, respectively. Meanwhile, the STRATIFY was indicated to have the sensitivity and specificity of 31% and 91.8%, respectively. This study concluded that Morse scale was more sensitive than STRATIFY. However, the STRATIFY had a higher specificity value than the Morse scale. Keywords: Fall risk assessment tool, Morse scale, STRATIFY References: 54 (2008 -2016)
