Abstract

ABSTRACT This term is used against the terms "disabled" or disability (disability), and the various negative connotations that follow. The terminology in this case proved to have a very important role in constructing the understanding . As the mass media of the film also formed the socio-cultural perception of the community. The meaning of the signs that appear in the whole drama of Korean drama Scarlet Heart is an information.. In addition, the audience as audiences to interpret the text. The purpose of this study is to describe how the representation of difabel difabel in Scarlet Heart and describe how the audience interpreted the discrimination of disabled figures in Scarlet Heart. This research uses the theory and Reception Analysis. In addition, this study also used qualitative ethnographic methods. this study involved five informants from a series of in-depth interviews The results of this study is the Korean drama Scarlet Heart tends to bring preferred reading discrimination against the personality of the disabled. The dominant forms of discrimination shown are the isolation, physical violence, and verbal violence that Wang Soo's family and friends receive. In addition to the discriminating drama Scarlet Heart also featured the resistance of the disabled. Furthermore the results of meaning also shows that the meaning of informants in the category of exclusion and violence scene against the disabled in the family environment is in opposition position. While the isolation scenes of the disabled in the dominant informant community are in the negotiating position. For the meaning of violent scenes of persons with disabilities in society, the position of informants is dominated by opposition positions. While the resistance scene of the disabled as a victim of discrimination, the doaminan informant is in a negotiating position. Result of all meaning, informant dominantly in position of opposition and negotiation. This shows the audience to interpret any information available. This proves that the audience is not a passive but active audience.
