INTERTEKSTUALITAS NOVEL CANTIK ITU LUKA KARYA EKA KURNIAWAN DENGAN NOVEL SERATUS TAHUN KESUNYIAN KARYA GABRIEL GARCIA MARQUEZ

Mentored by Dr. Redyanto Noor, M.Hum. and Fajrul Falah, S.Hum., M.Hum. Department of Indonesian Language and Literature, Faculty of Cultural Science, Diponegoro University. The material object of this research are Eka Kurniawan’s novel, Cantik itu Luka (2002), and Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s novel, Seratus Tahun Kesunyian (1967). This research focuses on intertextual relationship between Eka Kurniawan’s Cantik itu Luka and Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s Seratus Tahun Kesunyian. This research aims to discover intertextual relationship between the works of both authors based on settings, characters, plots, and point of views. The methods used in this research are structural of fiction methods, texts comparation methods and intertextual method. Structural fiction method used to uncover Eka Kurniawan’s Cantik itu Luka and Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s Seratus Tahun Kesunyian to find plots, characters and characterization, settings and point of views of both works. Whereas texts comparation method and intertextual method used to find connection between the works of both authors by compare them. From the result of this study it is known that Eka Kurniawan’s Cantik itu Luka are influenced by Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s Seratus Tahun Kesunyian. The elements such as plots, point of views, and also settings based on place and social criteria shows similiarity between those two works, while characters element from Cantik itu Luka shows distortion from the charatcers element of Seratus Tahun Kesunyian. In Cantik itu Luka, female characters dominated the whole story; while Seratus Tahun Kesunyian dominated by male characters. Besides, there are also similiar dialogs from the characters of both novels. This is the prove of the intertextual relationship between Seratus Tahun Kesunyian and Cantik itu Luka although partially.
