Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of feeding duration of ginger powder on final body weight, weight and percentage of carcass in crossbred native chicken. Experimental animals were 100 birds of 1 day-old native chicken with an average body weight of 39,14 ± 0.36 g (CV= 2.28). The present study was arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications (5 birds each). Dietary treatments were T0 (ration without ginger powder), T1 (ration with 2% additional ginger powder fed for 2 days/week), T2 (ration with 4% additional ginger powder fed for 4 days/week), T3 (ration with 2% additional ginger powder fed for 6 days/weeks). Results showed that the treatments had no significant effect (P>0,05) on all paraemetrs. The conclusion is that feeding ginger powder during 2, 4 as well as 6 days a week produce the same final body weight, and weight and percentage of carcass. Key words : native chicken, ginger powder, feeding duration, final body weight, carcass production
