Abstract
Research was conducted to observe the nutritional requirement of crossbreed kampong chicken especially for the energy and protein during starter period. Fourty crossbreed kampong chicken (breed from the cross of Arab – Bangkok chicken) raised in cages were used in this research to determine its energy and protein requirement. There are 4 basic feed (commercial broiler concentrate, fish meal, milled corn and rice bran) offered in free choice feeding method. Result shown that the energy – protein requirement decrease with the age, even though the total energy – protein intake increase with the age. This crossbreed kampong chicken were able to perform good performance in free choice feeding methode. Six week average of feed per gain ratio, weekly weight gain and feed efficiency were 2,44; 74,57g and 42,35% respectively. The average of final body weight at 6 week was 482,63 g.
