Abstract
Kata Kunci : Faktor Host, Faktor Environment, Pneumonia, Balita Background: Under five children have a lower body defense mechanism compared to adults, so under five children into groups easy to infectious diseases such as pneumonia and influenza. Host and environmental factors role in the problem of pneumonia in toodlers, so the purpose of this study was to provide evidence that host and environmental factors are risk factors contributing to pneumonia in toddlers. Methods: Study case control design. Population of study were toodlers registered in Wajok Hulu Health Center. Subjects of the study were 100 respondents which consisted of 50 cases and 50 controls. Sample collection with consecutive sampling. Data analysis using logistic regression. Result: Host and environment factors contributing as risk factors of pneumonia on under five children were history of exclusive breastfeeding (p= 0,001, OR=11,391 and 95%CI= 3,087-42,028), no habit of opening room windows (p=0,001, OR= 9,528 and 95%CI= 2,699-33,640), keeping pet (p= 0,001, OR= 7,871 and 95%CI= 2,381-26,019), density of dwelling (p= 0,005, OR=6,623, 95%CI=1,770-24,785). Factors not contributing to risk factors of pneumonia in under five children were status nutribond, history of vitamin A intake, ventilation, floor type, wall type, air pollution and tradition of swidden agriculture Conclusion: Risk factors of pneumonia in toddlers consisting host and environment factors are history of exclusive breastfeeding, no habit of opening room windows, keeping pet and density of dwelling.
