This study aims to determine the factors causing the emergence of anxiety and uncertainty of intercultural communication as well as know the strategy of management of anxiety and communication uncertainty that arise. The results of this study indicate that anxiety and uncertainty of intercultural communication occurs when first interacting. Based on the result of the research, it is known that the factor of language difference, the sense of inferiority of Papuan students and the lack of information related to the new environment that became the settling place also became the cause of the emergence of anxiety and uncertainty when interacting with hostculture. The first interwoven interactions are more often started by hostculture. The communication that exists between Papuan students and hostculture is good but Papuan students still can not blend in with the new environment. Papuan students and hostculture show that when communicating between cultures must be able to open up to be able to receive new information and have awareness in intercultural communication so that the anxiety and uncertainty that arise when interact can be managed properly and established effective communication between the two cultures and can minimize conflict that will happen. Experience in managing anxiety and uncertainty of intercultural communication can help people to adapt in new environments and cultures.
