ANALISIS FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHI KETERSEDIAAN BERAS DI JAWA TENGAH TAHUN 2014-2016

Abstract

The threat of food security crisis can occur when one of the indicators, namely the availability of food cannot be realized. Rice which is the staple food of the people of Indonesia, its existence indeed cannot be replaced until now. Surely this would be a problem if rice production declined further, while demand for rice continued to increase as the population grew. Central Java Province as one of the rice production granaries in Indonesia is expected to fulfil the chaos of rice consumption of its community. However, it becomes manageable if the rice field used to produce the rice shrinks every year because of the conversion into a non-fielded land. Therefore, this research is to analyze the factors that influence rice availability in Central Java Province 2014-2016. This study uses rice availability as the dependent variable, the independent variable used is harvested area, land productivity, the retail price of rice and amount of rice consumption. The method of analysis used is regression panel data analysis. The results show that the variable area of harvest and land productivity have a positive and significant effect. While the amount of rice consumption has an adverse and significant impact and the variable of rice price is not substantial. Based on the result, this proves that the more considerable demand for rice for consumption in the community should balance with the availability of adequate rice. The availability of rice can be enhanced by the expansion of unity land and productivity.
