Abstract
Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) is a dialysis technique using peritoneal membran as a dialysis membrane that separate the dialysate in the peritoneal cavity and blood plasma in the blood peritonium vessels. CAPD therapy may changes in physical, psychological, and social conditions. The purpose of the study was to explore the experiences of patients with chronic kidney disease using CAPD. This study used qualitative research methods with the approach of phenomenology. Data obtained with a depth interviews from 6 participants, they were 4 male and 2 female, participants age ranged between 24 – 60 years. Duration of received maintenance CAPD from 1 to 3 years. The result was analyzed used Colaizzi method. The result obtained five theme: the course of the disease until undergoing CAPD, physiological changes during CAPD, psychological changes during CAPD, social relationship during CAPD, and self-care management during CAPD. Based on this research founded the problems with CAPD patients includes physiological, psychological, and social relationship. Self-care management with CAPD include evaluate, monitor, organize, and take responsibility for themselves. Need further skinning and education to the improvement of self-care management so that the physiological, psychological, and social experienced by the patient can be resolved.
