Abstract

ABSTRACT Zulkarnaein, Zio. “PENERJEMAHAN KESEPADANAN KOSAKATA FISIK BERMUATAN BUDAYA MATERIIL BAHASA JEPANG KE BAHASA INDONESIA DALAM NOVEL ODA NOBUNAGA”. Thesis Departement of Language and Culture of Japanese Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. The first advisor S.I. Trihutami, S.S., M.Hum. and the second advisor Elizabeth I.H.A.N.R, S.S., M.Hum. The source for this research is Oda Nobunaga novel from Sohachi Yamaoka that was translated into several languages, including Indonesian. Indonesian version entitled Oda Nobunaga si Bodoh dari Owari by Ribeka Ota. This novel tells the story about the life of Nobunaga and his country in civil war. In this novel, there are many cultural terms so that when they translated, they would trigger some difficulties because some of the terms still do not have equivalences in target language. The material cultural terms include weapons, clothes, houses and their parts, foods, and means of life equipments. They can be found in several words such as katana, kimono, yudzuke, and so on. It obtained 32 material cultural terms in total. This research analyzed the equivalence in the translation with the informant and dictionary as the benchmark to know whether the message in the target text is equivalent with the source text. This method is based on dynamic equivalence concept by Nida and Taber (1974: 12). Based on the informant, the methods and techniques used by translator in maintaining the equivalence of message were analyzed. The theory was the translation methods for cultural terms by Newmark (1988) and translation techniques by and Hoed (2006). The results is of this research are 32 data has to be apart become 2 grups, which was equivalent translation that has 22 data, and non equivalent translation that has 10 data.
