PERUBAHAN BENTUK RUMAH TINGGAL VERNAKULAR DI TEPIAN SUNGAI DI KAMPUNG PAHANDUT KOTA PALANGKA RAYA

Abstract

Settlements in Kampung Pahandut were along the lines of Kahayan river, but nowadays there are a lot of changes as the development grows. Changes occur not only on the macro settlements, but also on the mi- cro part in the settlements, as in the ―panggung‖ houses and the ―lanting‖ houses. The dwelling house in Kampung Pahandut can be classified into the type of vernacular because it is a developed form of folk architecture and it is based on the natural conditions and local culture. The phenomenon that occurs in Kampung Pahandut, the change of the residence‘s shape, is analyzed by the qualitative descriptive meth- od to find out the most influential factor. The analysis is done by analyzing the changes in particular houses which are different with any other houses. By intangible views, the analysis is done by analyzing the organization of space, the orientation of the house, and the hierarchy of the exterior and interior space. Meanwhile, the tangible views reflect the analysis on the structure, material, and ornaments used in the houses. As the result, the researcher found that changes occur in the function space which is opti- mized, the increase in space, the use of new materials and also the orientation of the house. These chang- es occur are not only triggered by the economic capacity of the current owners, but also because of a change of the people‘s mindset, technology, environment, and so on.
