Abstract

Construction companies, according to data released by Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, are currently the most significant contributor to the number of occupational accidents in Indonesia. In fact, there are already specific safety K3 guidelines for construction companies that should be the handle of construction companies to reduce the number of work accidents. This research will investigate the application of K3 to five construction companies in Semarang and look for the cause of the high rate of the work accident in the construction company. The purpose of this research is to know the reason of the high rate of work accident at construction company, to see the perception of manager/staff of K3 and Employee / Worker related to the application of K3 to construction company, and to find out what should be applied K3 to construction company The method used is a qualitative method with phenomenology study approach. The reason for choosing the method is that this research can be done in depth to know the application of K3 and the cause of the accident at the construction company. The results of this study indicate that the causes of occupational accidents in construction companies are the lack of implementation of SMK3, the use of APD is not optimal, the lack of supervision from the government, the lack of K3 training for workers, not optimal installation of K3 signs, SOP K3 is less appropriate to field situations , and still low awareness of safety behavior.
