Abstract

Alam, Ulfatunnaimah Mustika. 2017. "Fishermen Registers in Tambak Lorok District Semarang Utara Semarang City". Thesis: Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program Diponegoro University Semarang. This paper describes the register to fishermen Tambak Lorok Semarang. The study of fishermen registers was chosen because in Semarang there are fishermen communities that live together and can not be separated from social relations with language as one means of communication. Given that a particular occupational profession has a unique language usage for communicating, it is therefore no exception that the fishing profession also has its own distinctive language use in daily communication. The method used in the provision of data is a method of observation with direct interview techniques. After the data obtained according to the needs of the research then analyzed using sociolinguistic theory with SPEAKING approach to see the use of fisherman language. Furthermore, in the data presentation stage used an informal method to describe the results of data analysis. The results of this study are (1) the registers in accordance with the characteristics of fishermen in the names of boats, equipment and parts of boats, fish species, catches, fishing activities, ritual equipment, and buying and selling transactions; (2) the types of registers found are deliberative, casual, and consultative; (3) there are register functions such as referential, emotive, and conative; (4) lastly, the use of the register makes communication between speakers and receiver said more effective and familiar.
