EKSPRESI BAHASA DAN PERSPEKTIF RUBRIK LAPORAN UTAMA MAJALAH HAYAMWURUK JEJAK KIRI DI SEMARANG

Abstract

The research of language expression and perspective becomes a tool to describe author’s perspective in three main articles of Hayamwuruk magazines Jejak Kiri di Semarang edition. The data source is literary text that is Jejak Kiri di Semarang magazine and direct interview with the author. The data is collected by using observation and reading method equipped with participatory conversational observation method with the author of the article via electronic mail then note taking and screenshot method is used. The collected data is analyzed descriptively later. In line with research objectives, this research is related to two aspects: the first aspect is the language expressions which are metaphor and modality elaborated descriptively; and the second one is author’s perspective description which is also explained descriptively through the main topic understanding in the text and interview result. The author’s perspective description is also viewed through the study of metaphor and modality. The result shows: 11 metaphors and 2 intentional modalities, 8 epistemic modalities, 0 deontic modality, and 9 dynamic modalities in the article entitled Fajar Merah di Ufuk Semarang which shows a perspective of Semarang communists’ contribution in fighting against the oppression from Netherland colony; 3 metaphors and 4 intentional modalities, 10 epistemic modalities, 1 deontic modality, and 3 dynamic modalities in the article entitled Simpang Kiri dalam Pertempuran Semarang which reveals the perspective toward Semarang communists’ contribution in fighting against the oppression from fascist Japanese colony; Semarang 1965; Sebuah Epilog Kematian has 1 metaphor and 1 intentional modality, 2 epistemic modality, 0 deontic modality and dynamic modality which accentuates pro discourse perspective toward communists when politic conflict happened around September 30th 1965.
