Abstract

Essential oils commonly known as etheric oils, essential oils and aromatic oils are large groups of vegetable oils or those from plants. Distillation is the method of separating the liquid from the mixture based on the difference in boiling point or based on the ability of the substance to evaporate. The purpose of this study was to compare the quality of essential oil of fresh ginger rhizome with the essential oil of dried ginger rhizome. The refractive index obtained on the essential oil of fresh ginger rhizome of 1.499 and the essential oil of dried ginger rhizome of 1.498.
