Abstract

ABSTRACT Karimah, Shofura. 2017. “Contrastive Analysis of Japanese Verb Ochiru and Indonesian Verb Jatuh”. Thesis, Department of Japanese Studies, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. Advisor S.I. Trahutami, S.S., M.Hum. The purposes of this research are 1. Describe the structure and meaning of Japanese verb “ochiru”. 2. Describe the structure and meaning of Indonesian verb “jatuh”. 3. Describe the similarities and differences between Japanese verb “ochiru” and Indonesian verb “jatuh” of structure and meaning. The data is collected from novel(s), article(s), language dictionary, and website(s). The method used for collecting the data in this research is simak bebas libat cakap method with a continuation technique, which is catat technique. The method used for the data analysis are qualitative method and contrastive method, the data were analyzed using Kihon Doushi Youhou Jiten, Koujien, and Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia. The method used for presenting the result(s) of the data analysis is informal method, as in presenting the result(s) of the data analysis with ordinary word(s). Based on the result(s) of the similarities and differences analysis from both verb, it can be concluded that Japanese verb “ochiru” and Indonesian verb “jatuh” act as a predicate in intransitive sentence(s) in form of a phrase(s) or a compound verb. Japanese verb “ochiru” and Indonesian verb “jatuh” also have 7 similar meaning and 9 different meaning. Keyword: contrastive, verb, ochiru, jatuh.
