Abstract

Families who living far away because of work, study or the other reason, they still hope the process of communication with family can take place in harmony. The study aimed to describe how the patterns of family communication that applied husband and wife couples remain connected with the distance separation to remain harmony. Using qualilative approach and pattern matching as an analytical method in case study research.. This study took three pairs of husband and wife as an informant and use the Theory of Pattern Interaction Relationship. The results of the study found that the predicted communication pattern, the equality pattern applied by the pair 3 is indicated by the communication in honest, open and often discussion, discussion are made when making and making decisions. While the balanced split pattern applied by the pair 1 and 2 is indicated by couples capable of taking up roles and authority in their respective fields, husband has authority in the field of work and wife has authority in the field of household. The equality pattern and the blanced split pattern are applied can maintain harmony when the couples undergoing long distance relationship, it is characterized by the way they communicate can found the elements of family harmony, which includes : Living a religious life, having time together, respect each other and have a close bond, having good communication which is marked by active listening and mutual support.
