Abstract

ABSTRACT Syah, Andi Hady Nur Alam 2017. “Style of Language and Diction on the Song Lyrics of The Power Source Album by Judy n Mary Stylistics Studies”. A thesis of Japanese Department, Diponegoro University. Advisor Nur Hastuti, S.S., M.Hum. In this thesis, writer analyze about “Style of Language and Diction on the Song Lyrics of The Power Source Album by Judy n Mary Stylistics Studies”. The purpose of this thesis is to know the style of language and diction that found on the song lyrics. This thesis used data from ten song lyrics by Judy n Mary in The Power Source Album. The method is literature study. The theory that used are Figure of Speech Theory by Seto Kenichi and Diction Theory. Based on data analysis, can be concluded that song lyrics in The Power Source album has 28 style of language which is 11 metaphor, 6 simile, 4 oxymoron, 5 personification, 1 hyperbole, and 1 synesthesia. Besides that, this lyrics also has diction which is connotative, denotative and foreign words. Keywords: song lyrics, stylistics, literature
