Abstract

This research observes the idiom which use lexem neck and shoulder in Japanese language. it aims to define the relations between lexical meanings and idiomatical meanings of idioms that have the lexem neck and shoulder. The author obtained Japanese idiom book data using the names of body parts. Those data were collected using note taking technique. Then, to analyze structure and meaning of idiomatical authors using data that has been presented semantically. The method of presenting the results of data analysis in an informal method, which is presenting the results of analysis data with words. This study concludes that (1) the structure of the neck idiom and shoulder idiom according is divided into 3, namely: verb idiom, adjectiva idiom and idiom noun. (2) Idioms of the neck and shoulder have several meanings, among others: the meaning of being fired, maintaining the job, of the debt / has a large amount of debt, meddling, amazement / hard thinking, approval, support, suspense, responsibility, relaxed, physically side by side / unbeatable, taking over, resigning. keywords: idioms, neck and shoulder.
