Abstract
Patchouli essential oil is essential oil with eugenol solvent component which is widely used in pharmaceutical industry and perfume industry which including high export high commodity of indonesia give 60% from patchouli oil world. However patchouli Alcohol traded in the market has a 30% level while required in industries with levels of 80% so it needs purification eugenol levels. This research uses vacuum distillation method. The goal is the process of vacuum distillation process and can isolate the nickel oil and the optimum conditions of the process. The study was carried out with a 0.8 N NaOH reagent for purifying patchouli alcohol from patchouli oil. Fixed Operating Conditions are Temperature 140oC, Time 60 minutes after the temperature is completed for volume Distillate volume and reflux volume, and Pressure vacuum ie Pressure 0,4719 atm (358,6735 mmHg). With the variables Reflux 1/4 (5 ml), Reflux 1/2 (10 ml), Full Reflux (20 ml) Results that can be used to determine the optimum condition of purification process Nilam Alcohol from patchouli oil of distillation of vacuum with volume of Patchouli oil The largest is 39 ml, the largest weighing type is 1.0368, and the largest eugenol content is 37%, then the optimum condition with full reflux (20ml) Keywords: patchouli essential oil, Patchouli Alkohol, purification, vacuum distillation
