Abstract

ABSTRACT Al Hawarismi, Fatih Hikam, 2017. " Analyzing GATE : Jietai Kanochi Nite Kaku Tatakaeri Light Novel to Anime Adaptation Process", Thesis, Japanese Literature, Diponegoro University, Semarang. Supervisor Yuliani Rahmah, S.Pd., M.Hum. As the development of the age also gives influence to the creation of new-style literature. A literature which is part of the art itself has run into many adaptations from old to modern literature. Yanai Takumi's light novel also had adapted from reading literature into visual art. This purpose of the research is to analyze adaptation process from novel to anime. The methods used for this research are qualitative descriptive and literature study. The theory used to analyze this research are structural, adaptation and ecranisation theory. The Structural theory used to analyze elements constructing the novel. Adaptation and ecranisation theory used to analyze the change of the adaptation process from light novel to anime. The result of the research, there are several changes of the elements constructing the novel during adaptation process from novel to anime. There are additions, subtractions and several changes in plot and backgrounds. The conclusion of the research itself, there's differences of art's viewer delivering methods which are not quite same with its source literature. The Different of literature media and delivering process cause several changes from source literature to its other art adaptation. Keywords: adaptation, ecranisation, light novel, anime.
