Abstract

ABSTRACT Karala, Cininta. 2017. “The Appearance Factor of Karasu Character in novel Umibe no Kafuka by Haruki Murakami”. A thesis of Japanese Department, Diponegoro University. Advisor: Fajria Noviana, S.S., M.Hum. The object of this study is a novel entitled Umibe no Kafuka. The method of the data collection is by library research. This study used theory of structuralism and theory of the development of human personality. This thesis discusses about the appearance factor of Karasu character in novel Umibe no Kafuka. The results show there are two factors which impact the appearance of Karasu character. First is settings that divided into place, time and social setting. Second is the development of human personality steps that divided into imajinary and symbolic step. Keywords : Karasu, Kafka Tamura, Jacques Lacan theory, development of human personality.
