Fairy tale is a fictitious story that almost every country has it with its own distinctive characteristic. Without realizing it or not there is a resemblance between a fairy tale with another tale. One fairy tale that has resemblance on their story was Komebuki Awabuki fairy tale from Japan and Bawang Merah Bawang Putih fairy tale which is from Indonesia. Because of their resemblance to the story, the authors wanted to find out about the similarities and differences contained in both fairy tales. This study aims to determine the similarities and differences contained in in both these tales. The theory used in this research is the structurak theory to analyze the intrinsic element that exist in both fairy tales, the moral concept to analyze the morals contained in both fairy tales and theory of comparative literature to analyze the similiarities and differences of intrinsic element and moral values in Japanese fairy tale Komebuki Awabuki with Indonesia fairy tale Bawang Merah Bawang Putih. The result of the research that has been achieved is the finding of similarity in the intrinsic elements, namely on the theme, number of main characters and characterizations, plot, setting, poin of view and the mandate. And the similarities in moral values, namely on individual moral, social moral and religious moral. Then, the difference in the intrinsic element, namely the number of additional characters and the setting of the place. Differences also exist in moral values, namely the existence of brave nature of individual moral. Although these two fairy tales have similiar storylines but these two tales do not affect each other.
