PENGARUH PENDIDIKAN KESEHATAN TERHADAP PENGETAHUAN TENTANG PENCEGAHAN PENULARAN PADA PASIEN TB PARU DI RUMAH SAKIT PARU DR. ARIO WIRAWAN SALATIGA

Abstract

Knowledge about prevention of tuberculosis (TB) transmission is essential aspect for the successful prevention of TB transmission. Health education done by nurses is the best intervention to improve the patient’s knowledge about prevention of TB transmission. The aim of this study was to know the influence of health education to the knowledge about prevention of TB transmission among TB patients in dr. Ario Wirawan Pulmonary Hospital, Salatiga. The design of this study was quantitative pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test design. This study used purposive sampling with 51 patients of TB as the respondents. Questionnaire was used to collect the data. The data was analyzed using Non-parametric Wilcoxon Test. The result showed a significant increase of the patient’s knowledge about prevention of TB transmission (p value=0,009, α=0,05). The result showed that health education done by nurses could significantly increase the patient’s knowledge. The importance of health education in order to improve the patient’s knowledge about prevention of TB transmission is nurse’s responsibility as an educator among the TB patients in hospital.
