Abstract
The content of Zingibern on the volatile oil of ginger distillation distillation results is still very low because it has not been removed from the impurities and metal complexes, therefore done pengelelatan method that serves to improve the quality of the essential oil ginger. The method of chelating done in this research is liquid liquid liquid extraction method of ginger oil using EDTA. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of chelating use in improving the quality of ginger oil through liquid liquid extraction method. One of them is using EDTA chelating where EDTA can be used as an extract in improving the quality of ginger oil (Hernani 2006) in Zingibern measurement using Visible Spectrophotometry tool. At elevated zingibern levels using EDTA chelating can be where at EDTA concentration of 0%; 0.5%; 1%; 1.5%; 2% increased by 25.42%; 36.59%; 44.92% and 54.43%. In this experiment, we get RSD value for EDTA concentration 0,5 ppm 0%, for EDTA concentration 1 ppm 0,64% with EDTA concentration 1,5 ppm 0,64% and for EDTA concentration 2 ppm equal to 0%. Precision can be said to be either a precession if the RSD value is not more than 2%. Increased zingibern content with EDTA chelating according to the equation y = 1,8142x + 13,252, R² = 0,9372 Keywords: EDTA, Essential Oils, Ginger, Zingibern Levels, Spectrophotometric Visible
