Abstract
Essential oils are substances that give aroma to plants, volatile oils have volatile components in some plants with certain characteristics. Ginger oil is a complex mixture of both terpenes and non terpenoid components. Ginger oils have a high zingiberene content but in Indonesian ginger oil Zingiberene content is still low, one of the efforts to increase the level of zingiberene is by chelating process by using liquid-liquid extraction method, in this experiment using citric acid, with the concentration of citric acid0%, 0.5%, 1%, 2% and 4 %. The result of the gain shows the equation y = 14,293x + 2.3023 with R2 = 0,912 and the concentration of Zingiberene increase is significant, but the increasing of expression is more appropriate with the equation y = 0.4293x + 2.3023 with R2 = 0,912 and maximal at 4% citric acid concentration. Measurements in this Pratikum using visible spectofotometer. Keywords : Essential oil of ginger, Purification, Citrat acid, Spectrophotometer
