Abstract

Essential oil is a substance that gives odor to plants, essential oil has volatile component in some part of ginger plants with certain characteristics. Good Ginger Oil has a high zingibern content, but in the content of Indonesian ginger oil zingibern content is still low, one of the efforts to increase levels of zingibern by chelating process using liquid-liquid extraction method. In this experiment using ascorbic acid, with ascorbic acid concentration of 0N; 0.5N; 1N; 1.5N; 2N; 2.5N; 3N. The result of chelating process get equation y = 0,6468x + 2,7229, R2 = 0,9907 with increasing of Zingibern value smaller than before. And increasing in the concentration of Ascorbic Acid 3N from 9.47% to 19.37%. The measurements on this Practicum use the Visible Spectrophotometer.
