Abstract

ABSTRACT Citra, Fakys Shanazs. 2017. "Violation of Cooperative Principle in Drama Series 5 Ji Kara 9 Ji Made". Thesis, Department of Japanese Studies, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. The advisor is Maharani Patria Ratna, S.S., M.Hum. In the writing this thesis, the writer discussed about "Violation of Cooperative Principle in Drama Series 5 Ji Kara 9 Ji Made". The aim of these research are to describe the violation of cooperative principle in Drama Series 5 Ji Kara 9 Ji Made and to describe the implicature arising from the violation of cooperative principle. This research uses the data that obtained from the Japanese drama entitled 5 Ji Kara 9 Ji Made for ten episodes. The data is collected using the method of referring and recording techniques which are then put together into a transcript of the dialogue. Then, the data were analyzed by using contextual analysis method with reference to Grice theory to know the form of violation of cooperative principle along with the implicature. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that there are 20 forms of violation of cooperative principle with most violation happened is violation of the maxim manner. Whereas, from the breach found as many as 10 types of implicatures with implicature most often appear is the implicature of rejection and implicature of notice.
