Thesis, Department of Japanese Studies, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. The Advisor Lina Rosliana, S.S., M. Hum. In this thesis, the writer discusses "The Adverb Mousugu, Mamonaku, and Sorosoro Which have Meaning of 'Tak Lama lagi' in Japanese Sentence". The aim of this research is to describe the structure and the meaning of Japanese adverb such as mousugu, mamonaku, and sorosoro, and to describe the relation of the meaning of these three kinds of Japanese adverb. As the corpus of data, the writer took from various sources, such as Japanese novel, film, as well as website. Those data were collected using note taking technique as if collecting and chose the data, and then analyzed them. Then, to analyze the structure and the meaning of adverb mousugu, mamonaku and sorosoro, the writer used the agih method to divide the sentence elements into sentence-forming elements such as subject, object, predicate, particle, conjunction and description. Then the writer applied substitution technique to describe the relation of those adverbs’ meaning, so the similarities and differences of the adverbs can be found. Based on the data analysis, the results show that the adverb mousugu has meanings of that there will be something / an event in a short time, it can indicate an activity verb, static verb, and noun. The adverb mamonaku has a meaning of ‘in a few moment’ in present tense or past tense, and it can indicate an activity verbs, static verb and noun. The adverb sorosoro has a meaning of to indicate a short time and has another meaning which is ‘slowly’. Keywords: adverb, mousugu, mamonaku, sorosoro
