Abstract
Betel is native to Indonesia who grow vines or leaning on other plants. Green Betel (Piper Bettle L.) is a plant that has the potential to produce essential oils. Oil content in green betel reached 0.046%. The process of extracting the oil of betel leaf green one using water steam distillation method. In practical use of raw materials as much as 4 kg of betel leaf and the solvent is water as much as 3 liters for each experiment. Time used in the first practicum is 3 hours and the second practicum is 4 hours. The time when the distillation process can influence the amount of yield, density and viscosity of the oil produced. The longer the time ditilasi then the amount will be more and more yield and oil quality will be better. Based on the results of lab work best is when the 4 hour distillation obtained oil volume of 4.8 ml, yield 0.174, 0.949 density, and viscosity of 18.69.
