Abstract

Digester is a vessel where the cooking process or reaction delignification of wood chips takes place. With the addition of a solution of the chemical cookers, heat, and pressure of the lignin will be dissolved and converted into pulp wood chips. In designing this tool have dimensions digester include: tank diameter: 35 cm, height tank: 50 cm, plate thickness: 0.12 cm, Impeller diameter: 23.07 centimeters, stirrer speed: 2800 rpm and a capacity of 20 liters. Pulping process can use non-wood raw materials, one of which is waste Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB). The content of 38.76% TKKS composed of cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin 26.69% and 22.23%. Pulping aims to get as much fiber as possible as indicated by the value of high yield with a minimum lignin content. The purpose of this experiment is to determine the optimum conditions in the pulping digester tool of TKKS. Pulping process stages of TKKS namely: (1) dry TKKS cut, (2) cooking in the digester, (3) pulp is filtered, and (4) pulp was analyzed. Variables that most good result is the optimum state at a temperature of 100oC and cooking time 90 minutes. Results of analysis obtained 12.56% yield. Email : sitirachmawatiwi@gmail.com
