Abstract
Heat transfer or thermal (heat transfer) is a science be relate with energy transfer due to a temperature difference between objects or material. Classified of heat transfer are heat transfer by convection, conduction and radiation. Heat exchanger is a device transfer thermal energy from one fluid to another fluid. Heat exchange fluid phase can be liquid-liquid, liquid-gas or gas-gas. In a testing the performance of the heat exchanger using shell and tube with material of carbon steel and equipped with temperature sensors. This experiment is the effectiveness of the appliance (heat exchanger) based on differences in fluid temperature and the influence of the fluid flow rate. In the first experiment with variable time = 8 minutes, Tc in 150C, 400C and Th in the valve ¼ produced a flow rate of 45.6 m/s. In the second experiment with variable time = 8 minutes, Tc in 200C, 400C and Th in the valve ½ produced a flow rate of 45.8 m/s. In the third experiment with variable time = 8 minutes, Tc in 250C, 400C and Th in the valve ¾ produced a flow rate of 69.14 m/s. In experiments IV with variable time = 8 minutes, Tc in the 300C, 400C and Th in the valve 1 produced a flow rate of 81.02 m/s. The effectiveness obtained in the first experiment smapai IV respectively 32%, 40%, 95.84% and 40%. E-mail : lailaperm@gmail.com
